TIME: Unwinding the Spiral

A speculative visualization of the individual’s influence on the flow of time, as outlined in the spiral treatise. An afterimage of the viewer modulates between the present and a user-defined delay into the past; delay and modulation speed are adjustable on the controller. The work offers a sense of agency over time while asking how much control we truly have.

The controller case was modeled in Rhino 8 with Grasshopper and PLA 3D printed in white filament; a clear acrylic layer protects the laser-cut clock hands. The live visualization runs in Max 9 with Arduino code.
